Precise, woven, silky.
In the mountainous alpine north of Italy (influenced by the Dolomites and Alps), which borders Austria, the cool-climate Suditrol-Alto Adige produces small quantities of high quality wines.
This Pinot Noir (labelled for both languages--Pinot Nero and Blauburgunder) shows classic pinosity; small wild berries and cocoa, tealeaf, vanilla, cherries soaked in star anise and mixed fine spice. Silky, with a woven palate that is both balanced and precise, it's a lovely wine that deserves a slight chill before service.
